People have lost touch with nature, the connection between man and nature has been disconnected. instead replaced with man made objects, artificial substances. By working with natural materials and products; I want to bring that absent connection back to people’s consciousness so that they’ll be aware of nature and the benefits that we once benefited from.
The way I wanted to bring people back in touch with nature was by providing a hands on experience with dye related materials due to the rich history of dyeing in the area. Firstly, you have the opportunity to grow the plants by planting them and regularly maintaining them on the specialised vertical green wall. secondly, is the dye producing, using the plants that have matured on the vertical allotment, one would use various methods to extract the colour from the plant. thirdly, wool which is grown from local sheep farms will be sourced in to help the local industry grow. Finally, the wool would be either turned into art work or garments for both sexes of all ages which then will be dipped into the in-house dye and also hung inside the building left naked for attraction reasons and faster drying process due to the open atrium allowing maximum airflow through out the building.
